Why we started

Walk into the back office of most Indian hotels and you find a PMS for rooms, a POS for the restaurant, a billing tool, spreadsheets and a WhatsApp group holding it together. Each tool is fine at its job. The property is still harder to run than it should be, because none of them know about each other, and the seams — the restaurant bill on the folio, the day that closes at two different times — are nobody's job.

We built Manaaki so those seams do not exist. The restaurant bill and the room folio are entries in the same ledger. The guest at the desk is the guest at table six. Night audit closes the whole property once.

What we believe

• Connected beats integrated. Integrations sync copies, and copies drift. One system of record does not.
• Money is never edited. Every rupee is an event with a document behind it; corrections are new documents.
• Service must never stop because of software. A commercial hiccup on our side never locks a live shift.
• Say less, truthfully. We would rather look smaller than claim something that is not shipped. The roadmap page says what is not.
• Fewer clicks for the person on the floor. Every screen is judged by whose job it makes easier.

How we build

With properties, not for them. The first hotels and restaurants on Manaaki are founding properties: they get launch pricing, a direct line to the team, and their operational problems set the order of the roadmap. Fixes ship to every property.

The name

Manaaki is a Māori word for the act of caring for a guest — showing hospitality, generosity and respect. It is the standard we hold the software to: the guest should feel looked after, and the people looking after them should not be fighting their tools.
